Joining us for the cook-along is actress, singer and dancer Soso Rungqu. She is best known by South Africa as the very opinionated welder, Morongwa Kau, on SABC3’s leading soapie Isidingo.
Soso grew up in Amalinda, East London, she however went on the to study Musical Theatre at Tshwane University of Technology, in Pretoria. This was the beginning of her chosen career path, as she landed her first theatre role starring in “The Frog Prince and other stories”, which was at the Johannesburg Peoples Theatre, in 2007, before joining Dog Dog Productions. She then went on doing industrial theatre, doing a number of shows and tours, doing a number of corporate jobs, for a number of different theatre productions.
After working a number of corporate videos and for brands, she worked her way into adverts by 2008. Soon after working the on adverts she landed her first television role, in PHD Child Case studies for the Mindset Network Health channel. After that she started landing voice-over gigs, first on a human trafficking production, then as one of the cats on Red Pepper Productions, animation, Cool Catz. Her career took off after that. After that she landed roles on ‘Jozi Zoo’ and ‘Rhythm City’. She only truly got noticed by the industry after her role as a journalist, in the SABC1 crime drama ‘Sokhulu and Partners’. After that she got roles in many other popular productions, including the one that she is most famous for now, in Isidingo. She is also now currently working on her first ever talk show, for SABC2.
