Mindfulness expert Simon Whitesman discusses how it's being intergrated into clinical practice.
Mindfulness and mindfuness-based interventions have been on the rise, and have since been intergrated into clinical practices. Afternoon Express today talks to one of the key figures in this revolutionary branch of medicine, Dr Simon Whitesman, a Integrative Medicine practitioner at Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital.
With a special interest in medical psychotherapy, he co-directs the Mindfulness-Based Stress Redution programme at Cape Town Medi-Clinic and is the chairperson of the Institute for Mindfulness in South Africa. Simon has received certification as a teacher of MBSR from the University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Mindfulness and in psychoanalytic psychotherapy from the South African Institute for Psychotherapy.
