Joining us in studio is legendary dancer and choreographer Sibonakaliso Ndaba. The Durban born choreographer began her dance career in 1989, dancing at the original Phenduka Dance Theatre in Durban.
Sibonakiliso would later move to Cape Town to be a dancer and choreographer, at the Jazzart Dance Theatre. In 2001 she returned to Durban to help re-establish the Phenduku Dance Theatre as its artistic director, until 2007. During her time as the artistic director, she choreographed a number of productions and became known for her ability to blend African dance with contemporary, so effortlessly. Her choreography skills expand way beyond the boarders of South Africa, she has stretched them as far as the Netherlands and United Kingdom, among many others, creating choreography for productions world wide. Her skills have helped her collect a number of awards over the years such as the Playhouse Company award for Women in the Arts and the Daimler Chrysler award for South African Choreography, amongst others.
