Joining us for the cook along is one of most beloved presenters on Ukhozi FM, radio presenter, Selby Mkhize. Selby who is also known as Selbeyonce, is hosts one of the biggest shows on Ukhozi, helping to draw in a whopping 2.9 million listeners.
Selby’s road to stardom wasn’t all easy, the KwaZulu Natal native moved to Johannesburg to join a casting agency after high school, to get training on his radio and presenting skills. This was due to fact that he had could not study them in tertiary institutions due to financial difficulties. Before he got his big break on Ukhozi, he started out doing voice over work for KZN’s youth station, after getting more publicity, he then got an opportunity to host gossip features and weekend programmes on Gagasi FM, due to his nature and energy.
After that he decided it was time to try elsewhere too, he then began as a contributor for two years at Ukhozi FM. His personality and determination though managed to lead to him getting a promotion and he saw himself as a co-host alongside Tshatha Ngobe of the weekday 3pm-6pm drive show, Woza Nabangani Bakho, becoming it’s first openly gay radio presenter. Since his time joining the show it’s viewer-ship has gone from 2.2 million to 2.9 million.
