We are once again joined by rapper Rouge. She had always dreamt of becoming a performer and started singing at the age of 6, song-writing at the age of 12 and rapping at the age of 19. She also took part in acting, public speaking and poetry, not knowing she was preparing herself for what was to come.
Rouge recently released her debut album on 15 September 2017, she titled the album ‘New Era Sessions’. The reason for the title was because she felt as if the creation process of the album felt like one long therapy session. The album touches on the common questions she gets asked asked as a female rapper, such as; what it feels like to be a female in a male dominated industry, and What it feels like to be a female rapper, among other questions.
She has said that the album is her way of releasing her frustration of constantly being asked the same questions. She has noted that the the album is split up into different sections such as Old School, Trap, Love, Women and Empowerment, so there is truly something for everybody to enjoy.
