Award-winning photographer Roger Ballen joins us in the loft.
Joining us is one of the most influential and important photographic artists of the 21st century, whose photographs span over forty years. Over the past thirty years his distinctive style of photography has evolved using a simple square format in stark and beautiful black and white. In the earlier works in the exhibition his connection to the tradition of documentary photography is clear but through the 1990s he developed a style he describes as ‘documentary fiction’.
Roger Ballen joins us in the loft to talk about his legendary photography career, as well as his launching of the Roger Ballen Photography Award.
If you are in Jo’burg, the work is still up at Gallery Momo until the 28th February, after that you can catch it in Cape Town in the middle of March where the work will be exhibited until the end of April.
