We are joined in studio by internet sensation, and up and coming musician, Robin Thirdfloor. The Durban born rapper has made a name for himself around his city and around the country due to the following that he has gained through social media.
Robin who’s real is Simphiwe Nyawose, refers to himself as an internet kid, as he grew up in the digital age. This is how he first got discovered and starting building a fanbase, as now it is easier for up and coming artist to get recognised and seen by fans. His sound has been described as a fusion of hip hop, electronic, and house music.
Robin began rapping in 2008, as he found it as a form of release and escape from his life as he was facing bulling at school, while in grade 10. He was bullied due to the fact that he was always an outcast and never really confined to the norm like the other children that he grew up around, this was when he would use rap as a form of therapy, especially finding inspiration through the likes of rappers such as Eminem. He considers himself and his music to be a voice for the ‘outcasts’ and the ‘misfits’, those people that don’t particularly fit into one kind of mould. His latest project is in EP titled “Bhotela” which is a slang word for a misfit, but it’s literal translation means “butter”. The EP debuted in the top 25 most streamed albums in South Africa
