South African born soprano singer, Pumeza Matshikiza chats to us today.
Pumeza grew up singing in church, school and community choirs but it was only in her teenage years that she discovered her love for opera; when she heard it on the radio and was immediately blown away by the sound.
Pumeza studied at the University of Cape and the Royal College of Music in London, and had the opportunity to perform in several operas.
She’s participated in master classes with artists like renowned New Zealand soprano, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and the Italian soprano and opera director, Renata Scotto. Performance highlights include being a member of the German Staatsoper Stuttgart Opera, singing in the BBC Proms in the Park and opening the 2014 Common Wealth Games!
The busy artist with big dreams has also signed an exclusive contract with the British Record Label Decca Records and has released two Cd’s, Voice of Hope and Arias.
