To kick off Afternoon Express’ first episode of 2018, we are fashion designer Pinkie Luswazi. A truly remarkable woman who shows that it’s never to go after what you want, even at the age of 53 years old, Pinky is still evidence of that with her company Luspin Production.
The Cape Town designer runs her company in her community of Mandalay, where she manufactures décor items, formal wear, as well as casual street wear. In 2017 she became the top student, with the highest marks at the Small Business Academy, a nine month coarse set to help hone in the skills of small business owners around Cape Town. It is a developmental programme under the University of Stellenbosch Business School. Pinky is also big on giving back to the community as is evident by the work she does with Stitch 2 Stitch, where she runs a training programme to help unemployed single mothers.
