We are joined in the studio by celebrated veteran actor Patrick Shai. Throughout his long and illustrious career, gaining many great accomplishments whether it be on the theatre stage, television, and feature film productions.
He began his legendary career as a dancer who was apart of the Mzumba African Drama and Ballet, at Safari Ranch. Since those days he has gone on to add many great acting accolades to his name including playing roles many of South Africa’s top series’ such as Yizo Yizo, Soul City, Behind the Badge, and Hillside among many others including the BBC mini-series Rhodes, back in 1996. His list feature film credits is also as equally impressive, appearing in films such ‘Red Scorpion’, ‘Blind Justice’, ‘Taxi to Soweto’, ‘Cry, the Beloved Country’, ‘Fools’, ‘Critical Assignment’, among many others. One of his most recognisable roles is that Moses Mokoena in the SABC2 mini-series Noah's Ark back in 2008. In 2010 he starred in the SABC1 soccer drama series Zone 14, where he took over the role Tiger Sibiya.
Patrick is also an avid advocate of being against gender based violence, after he had publicly admitted that he himself had former issues of being an abuser. He had said that due to growing around woman who were abused, he thought what he was doing was not wrong. This was until he had to play the role of an abuser, which got him to change. He now advocates that parents change the way that they raise their kids, as abuse is something that get subconsciously instilled at a young age.
