We are joined in the studio by mompreneur Naomi Butow. She is the founder of Mommy Mall S.A which is an online mom-to-mom business network. Its primary objective is to empower other mompreneurs across the country. This is such a crucial thing for mothers everywhere as according to stats that there is approximately 60% of South African mothers who are raising their children on their own.
Naomi wanted to help and inspire mothers to start their own companies as they assist each other. The platform helps to provide virtual training and business workshops for mothers. The platform started out as a group that she created on Facebook called Mommy Mall Cape Town, on the first day, 30 women signed up, a month later the platform grew to have 1000 members. Now they are currently groups all over South Africa, such as Durban, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth, Northern Cape and Johannesburg.
They have well-established trade routes all throughout South Africa. This has led to her being nominated for the Fair Lady ‘Woman of the Future’ award, set to take place in August . The platform is operated by 26 volunteers, who are also apart of the network. The network has over 2300 members who are all assisting each other with questions and advice.
