We are joined by professional chef and business woman, Mogau Seshoene, who is the Owner of the Lazy Makoti. In 2014 she turned from a career in finance to start her own company, where she teaches woman how to cook traditional South African cuisine, she is truly modern day Afropolitan.
Mogau started the company because she saw that there was a gap in the market for cooking lessons on South African cuisine, after a friend of hers needed cooking lessons, since she was getting married. She teaches people how to make dishes such as dombolo, baked goods, breyani, chakalaka and tripe, among many others. Word spread about her, with more and more people requesting lessons from her, thus leading up to the birth of ‘The Lazy Makoti’ which resulted in her leaving the corporate world, that she had studied and obtained a degree in Consumer Science (Clothing Retail) from the University of Pretoria in 2011. She has now even gone to culinary school in order to help herself, help her students to improve their culinary skills.
