We are joined for the cook-along by singer, songwriter and presenter Mmatema Moremi. She gained nation wide recognition when she became the runner up in the eleventh season of Idols South Africa, back in 2015.
The young singer was born and raised in Zebeidelia, Limpopo, where she began singing at church and pre-school. This got her so well known, that by the time she went to secondary school, she started getting booked for local events, and birthdau celebrations. Mmatema latest big career move was becoming the host of a new SABC 1, gospel show called Gospel Unplugged. She has become a successful gospel singer and a born again Christian, who primarily sings in her home language of Sepedi, and her latest single ‘Ke Lerato’, which means ‘It Is Love’, is no different.
She has said that the objective of the song is to truly spread love throughout the country as many people seem to have forgotten what the word truly means. She got the inspiration for the song from her producer Tshepo Gavu “suggested I write a song about love, at first I was hesitant but when he played the melody for me the scripture from the bible verse in 1 Corinthians 13 came to my heart and that's how the process of the song came about.”
