We are joined by singer, songwriter Lungi Naidoo in studio. Her career started off as a backup singer but now she has taken centre stage, and her latest album ‘Black Diamond’ is a true representation of that.
She was born in KwaDukuza (formally Stanger) in Kwa-Zulu Natal, to a Zulu mother and Indian father, who unfortunately couldn’t marry at the time due to the laws under the apartheid regime. She did however get to grow up learning the best of both cultures. She moved to Johannesburg to pursue her music career.
While there started with theatre before entering coco-cola pop. In the early stages of her career she released two albums independently, however they weren’t as successful as she had hoped. She never let that discourage her though and things eventually turned around when she featured on Black Coffee’s single “Love On Fire” which was off his ‘Pieces of Me’ critically acclaimed album. Her latest album now, ‘Black Diamond’ has been success, with such hits like ‘Kiss Madolo’ anoung many more.
