Dignity Project head journalist Lance Witten talks about working with the homeless.
Homelessness in Cape Town has been a problem in the city for many years. Some of them wake up every morning not knowing where their next meal will be coming from. For most, they are homeless after being dealt a big blow in life and others are born into poverty.
Starting in April, the Cape Argus began publishing a series of articles detailing the lives of those who live in the shadows of the streets. It is headed up by news journalist Lance Witten and photographer Henk Kruger. What sets it apart is that the article forms part of a daily column written by one of the homeless.
