We are joined in studio by singer, songwriter, Khaya Mthethwa. Khaya is a multi award winning gospel singer and television presenter, we first got to know him as the first black winner of Idols, when he won the singing competition back in season eight.
Khaya grew up in Durban, being raised by his parents who were both pastors, earned him the nickname Pastor's Kid, or PK. He grew up singing in his parent’s church, which is where his passion for Gospel music was nurtured. During this time he taught himself how to instruments such as percussion, keyboard, guitar and the drums.
After high school he went on to study Project Management, as his parents were against him pursuing a career in the arts. That didn’t stop him though from going on to join popular gospel group Joyous Celebration, as a singer. Since winning Idols, Khaya has gone on to host and take part in a number of gospel centred television shows over the years, such as hosting SABC1's Sunday morning gospel show Gospel Avenue, among others.
His career is not the only thing that has been doing well, his love life has also been doing extremely well. In December 2017, Khaya married the love of his life, a former Miss SA Ntando Kunene, after the pair had been dating for only 3 three months.
