John Kani
Legendary South African actor John Kani talks about the evolution of theater.
In South Africa, the name John Kani is synonymous with theatre. He is one of our most celebrated actors and playwrights, best-known for his numerous performances in protest theatre during the Apartheid years, such as Sizwe Bansi is Dead, Master Harold and the Boys, Saturday Night at the Palace and The Island, but his work on screen has led to him to star alongside Michael Douglas and Ralph Fiennes – and now he even has a role in the new Captain America: Civil War film as the king of Wakanda and the father of superhero Black Panther. We’re honoured to be joined today by Dr John Kani.
