Joan Armatrading

We have the privilege of having legendary rock and soul artist Joan Armatrading in the loft today.

With hits such as "Lovers Speak", "Me Myself I", "Drop the Pilot" and "Willow", Joan's music has really stood the test of time with a career spanning 40 years and 18 studio albums. She was also the first female UK artist to debut at number 1 on the Billboards Blues charts and the first female UK artist to be nominated for a Grammy in the blues category.

Joan was born in Basseterre on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts in 1950. She moved to the UK when she was just 7 years old and began performing with her guitar at the age of 16, and has since released 18 studio albums with the most recent being 2012's "Starlight".

The Afternoon Express family is incredibly privileged to have Joan Armatrading perform for us in the loft while she's on her last major tour with stops in Cape Town, East London, Durban and Johannesburg.
