The ‘Deeper’ hit-maker was the first woman to win the coveted SAMA Record of the Year award in 20 Years, at the 25th annual South African Music Awards. She is the first woman to win it since Brenda Fassie won Song Of The Year in 1999 for ‘Vuli Ndlela.’ The category is also the only one that is voted for by the public.
“Winning the SAMA feels like a validation of every young South African who has a dream, and especially those young women who hold on to the belief that they can make it, even when facing obstacles.”
