We sit down on the couch with legendary musician Dizu Plaatjies about Heritage Day. There is no one better to discuss this day with other than the traditional music artist and cultural historian, Dizu.
He formed the legendary music group Amampondo in 1979, which lead to to him travelling far and wide across the world, sharing his culture with the world. After touring the world for a number of years, he returned home to South Africa and began a new chapter in his life as an African dance and music lecturer at UCT, in 1997. After his departure from Amampondo, he went and started a new ensemble group called Ibuyambo. He has described his work and music as challenging the present and future government to respect and conserve the traditional heritage.
