In commemoration of #MandelaDay the SABC is running a campaign called #BeMoreMadiba, where they encourage the people of South Africa to be more like Madiba. Today we’re joined by two young ladies who have taken this to heart and made a big difference in their communities.

Daniella Zinanni is the 12-year-old founder of the Bhabhathane Butterfly Foundation (BBF) that aims to keep girls in school by providing sanitary products.

According to UNICEF, one in 10 African girls misses four days of school a month during their menstrual cycle. That’s 60 missed school days per year. This leads to poor of academic performance and progression, low self-esteem and diminished prospects in life. BBF aims to change the lives of girls and ultimately the next generation and nation by assisting in keeping girls in school by providing them with sanitary hygiene products.

BBF is a project started by Daniella Zinanni a 12-year-old pupil from Elkanah House in Cape Town, South Africa. She collects donations of sanitary hygiene and related products and raises money to purchase such products which she then distributes to schools in impoverished communities.

Cadi de Jager is also a phenomenal young lady who raised R20 000 for the Red Cross Hospital just to say thank you for the treatment she received.
