We chat to a veteran in the South African hip-hop scene, Da L.E.S, as he joins us on the couch. It has been two years since we last caught up with the ‘North God’, as he is commonly known as, has been busy whether it be music, his business’, endorsments, or being a style icon.
We last saw him after he had recently dropped his ‘NorthGod’ album, and since then he has been a very busy man, releasing album after album, such as ‘Diamond in Africa’, ‘Hall of Fame’, ‘High Level’, and the recently released ‘Hall of Fame 2’, of which both the first and second were compilation albums of his record company Fresh 2 Def. The eleven year veteran has been one of the most consistant artists in a genre that’s always changing and looking for the next best artist. From his days in the highly successful hip hop group Jozi, to a long running solo career, Da L.E.S. has proven to be one of the hardest working people in the industry.
To help promote his recently released ‘Hall of Fame 2’ album, he had taken to Twitter to announce that he would be dropping 6 music videos every Friday for 6 weeks, under the hashtag #DaLES6for6. The sequence kicked off on May 4th, with the first video dropped being ‘Out Of The Blue’, followed by ‘Taking No More’, in the following week it was ‘Pave The Way’, the fourth video is set to drop 25 May.
