Joining us in the loft on Monday afternoon is veteran actress Connie Chiume. Connie has had a long and lustrous acting career that has spanned out for about four decades, from stage, to television, to the big screen, and she has racked up numerous accolades along the way, including a Golden Horn award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, at the 2009 SAFTA’s. She has stated though that her appearance in the recently released international blockbuster Black Panther, has been one of her major career highlights.
Originally from Benoni, Connie is not just a talented actress, she is also a devoted mother of four. She best known for her Avanti award winning role in the SABC1 drama Soul City, and in the SABC 2 drama 90 Plein Street. In more recent years, she has been best known for her recent starring role as Mamokete Khuse on the soapie Rhythm City from 2007-2016, as well as her role in the SABC1 drama series Zone 14, as Stella Moloi, from 2005-2010. She joins us in the loft to discuss her career and being apart of the star-studded Black Panther, which she said that she had no idea that she was auditioning for, or the type of film that it was. In the film she acts alongside international box-office draws such as Chadwick Boseman, Angela Basset, Michael B Jordan, as well as Oscar winners Forest Whitaker and Lupita Nyong’o.
