Carmen Stevens

Carmen Stevens is the first person of colour to study in post-1994 South Africa.

Carmen Stevens Wines is an award-winning brand, the recipient of a 2008 Decanter World Wine Awards. She graduated from Elsenburg Agriculture College in 1995, after the first democratic elections of 1994 as the first black person to study winemaking in South Africa. In addition to crafting some of the country's best wines, Carmen has raised over one million rand to feed hungry school children in the Peninsula School Feeding scheme.
