Zimbabwean born singer Berita, burst on the South African music scene in 2012 with her smash hit song, Thandolwethu. The success of the song resulted in her winning the Wawela Music Award for best songwriter, which has cemented her place in the music industry.

Berita, who was born Gugulethu Khumalo, is now back with a beautiful new single ‘Surprises’ which if the second single of her latest album. She has described the song as a feel good song that will get people up on their feet dancing, while there is also an inspirational message in the songs. The song was inspired by the feeling of finding hope and joy the present and future, as we don’t know what tomorrow will bring.

“Surprises is a song that aims to brighten your day when all seems gloomy,” she said. “This song celebrates life, I’m saying lighten up because life is full of beautiful surprises.”
Her latest album is self-titled and has been two years in the making. The Berita album is an intimate 14 track playlist, exploring the different elements around love, that that everyone can relate to.

“This album is truly special to me, as it explores my personal journey in the past two years from heartbreak, going through soul searching, gaining my power, embracing romance, finding love and appreciating life. I feel free and confident, and can’t wait for everyone else to hear the music,” said Berita.
