We are joined by Zimbabwean born Afro-soul musician, Bekezela. He moved to South Africa in 2008 from Zimbabwe, in hopes of fulfilling his dream for a musical career. He got his love for music at a young age, thanks to his grandparents church, where they were ministers, having choirs and musicians playing there.
When he moved to South Africa, he didn’t find it easy, and had to endure years of hard working menial jobs such as cleaning and construction work. Throughout all of this, he never gave up and kept recording his music until he recently released his album, which has been met with much critical acclaim.
He studied communications and multimedia as a sound major. He says that he moved to South Africa because the market was mostly here, for the type of music that he wanted to do, as Zimbabwe was going through tough economic times, so there was not as much resources available to him.
