We catch up with Cape Town based band Beatenberg. The trio fuses the sounds of pop and house music, giving them their own unique style. The trio join us to discuss their recently released new album “12 views of Beatenberg.”
The award-wining pop trio consists of vocalist and guitarist Matthew Field, drummer Robin Brink, and Ross Dorkin on the bass. “12 views of Beatenberg” is the first album that they have released since their since their highly successful 2014 debut album “The Hanging Gardens of Beatenberg”. That same year saw them rise to the top of multiple music charts around Africa, after collaborating with DJ Clock on the single ‘Pluto/remember you’ which was a massive hit in the summer, and now sits with over 2 million views on YouTube.
The band formed in 2008, getting their name after Matthew got the inspiration from a sketch of the Swiss town of Beatenberg by expressionist Paul Klee. Since then the band has gone on to win numerous awards such as Album of the Year, Duo or Group of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Best Pop Album, at the South African Music Awards, they also went on to break a number of radio chart records.
