Basetsana Kumalo

Businesswoman and philanthropist Basetsana Kumalo joins us for Afternoon Express.

Today's guest has a biography that would put the most celebrateds guest to shame. It's Basetsana Kumalo. She came from humble beginnings to be crowned South Africa’s first black Miss South Africa, won first runner-up in the Miss World Pageant, became the Face of Revlon, and was recently voted a South African Style Icon.

Having studied at UNISA, Damelien, Harvard and Yale, she is the Director of a women owned coal-mining company, director of an award-winning travel agency and has produced numerous award winning TV Shows including Afternoon Express and Top Billing. She is also a Director of Lovelife, and of the Nelson Mandela Institute for Education and Rural Development. Bassie, as she is affectionately known, was named an Ambassador for UNICEF and has been honoured as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
