Joining us for the cook along is the one and only Babes Wodumo, who has been dubbed the queen of qgom music. Bongekile Simelane who is better known to the world as Babes Wodumo, became a break out star and household name in 2016 after the release of her first single ‘Wololo’.
She grew up in church being the daughter of a Bishop, in the township of Lamontville, in Durban. She has said that her stage name translates to “Fame Babe”, as she given the nickname Babes by her father. The ‘Wodumo’ means “of fame”, which she got because she always excelled in everything that she did and these things would lead her to be famous among people. She first got noticed by the public as a backup singer and dancer on a few of Afrotainment group, Big Nuz’s tracks, such as “Tsege Tsege”, this was until she went on to pursue her solo career. Now she is regarded as the first queen of qgom, dancer, musician and model.
