We are joined by local Skhanda rapper Kid X, in the loft. He broke onto the music scene in 2010 and quickly became one of the hottest unsigned acts at the time, since then Kid X has been seen by many as a visionary and one of the leaders of the new school.
He hit the mainstream in 2011 when he signed to K.O’s record label Cashtime, he would then go on to join forces with former Cashtime signees Smashis and AB Crazy, to form Cashtme Fam, and would go on to score a number 1 hit with “Goodbye”. He would also go make a name for himself the following year, when he featured on Kwesta’s smash hit “Boom Shaka Laka”. He would then go on to be known go-to-guy to feature by DJ’s and many artists, after his verse that was featured on K.O’s ‘Caracara’ in 2014, Kid X officially became the hottest commodity in the game. This would go on to help his first official single “Pass n’ Special” become the most anticipated 1st single in the history of South African Hip Hop. It’s success would also lead to his mixtape ‘3 Quarter Pace’ to go a make history by becoming the first mixtape in SA to do 500,000 downloads in a week, and in 2016 became the first ever mixtape to be nominated for a SAMA for best hip hop Album.
Towards the end of 2016 he parted ways with Cashtime Life, to form his own record label, Raplyf Records, alongside friend and longtime collaborator Kwesta. Under the label they have signed two new acts; TLT and Makwa6eats. Kid X has also released two new singles, Mfaziwephepha and the latest being Aunty.
