We are joined in the loft once again by seasoned actress Florence Masebe. The Limpopo born actress studied at the UCT Drama School, before she started her professional acting career in 1993. She has also been the recipient of the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
Over the years Florence has had a number of prominent acting roles in some of the biggest and most popular television series’ and movies in South Africa such as Florence was born in Limpopo. From humble beginnings she chose her path through the UCT Drama School and started acting professionally in 1993. At this time, the beginning of her career she was mainly doing cameo roles and children shows, which helped her grow her craft. One of her most recognisable roles, was from 2004 – 2009, as Humbulani on the popular SABC 2 soapie Muvhango, it was the role that cemented her as a household name.
Florence may have a career many admire to have, but her life has not been without it’s fair share of heartaches, as a few years ago she tragically lost her son who drowned in their pool. She has said that “nobody ever ultimately totally heals from grief and loss”. She had also taken to writing a book about how she got through the grief.
