We are joined by seasoned Afro-soul singer Camagwini, as she makes her comeback to music after a 5-year hiatus. The Eastern Cape born singer and songwriter returns to the limelight to release her 4th studio album ‘Zanemvulakazi’.
Camagwini built her brand through authenticity to her alternative afro music style. Camagwini whose real name is Siphokazi Buti, grew up in the small town Brighton, in the Eastern Cape, where she would grow up under the inspiration of the likes of Madosini, Bongo Muffin, Busi Mhlongo and Simphiwe Dana. She has said the songs on her latest album show off her true expression of who she currently is as an artist. “Each song takes you on a journey. After 5 years of not releasing any music or doing interviews, It’s time to go back to music, God has given His approval”. The new album is accompanied by its lead single titled “Dubai”. She has said that the reason behind her self imposed exile was to be able to live a normal life after giving birth in 2013. Since then she has now changed record labels, to independent label 4 Billion Records, where she has now made herself at home.
