It’s World Sandwich Day! Did you know that the sandwich is named after John Montagu (1718-1792), the 4th Earl of Sandwich, who started a trend of eating beef between two pieces of bread?
 
Pali, Jay and Tumi are joined in the kitchen by Chef Vusi Ndlovu. We get to know the talented young chef on his way to culinary stardom.
 
Our masterclass begins with a Footlong Ham & Cheese Sandwich recipe that is too good not to share! Toast the roll to add texture and a depth of flavour to the sandwich. Since the filling is quite light and fresh, this step gives an overall more robust flavour.
 
Eggs on toast are a staple, but have you heard of an Omelette Sandwich? This dish has taken TikTok by storm, proving you can have the best of both worlds. Pro tip: Adding milk to your egg mixture may cause the eggs to become tough when cooked. Try adding a tablespoon of water and your eggs will be light and fluffy.
 
Chef Vusi brings you his favourite sandwich – a grilled chicken BLT. Layered with crispy lettuce, tomato and grilled chicken, it is the perfect sandwich to usher in the summertime.
 
The next recipe is a Sweet Honey Mayo Chicken Salad, which can double as a delicious sandwich filling. The red grapes and citrus add a sweet surprise.
