When a new home is finished, there's an opportunity at the completion of the project to fix any small defects or make changes before the owner moves in. This is called snagging and the design duos have the opportunity to do the same in their decorated homes.
Based on the judges feedback across the challenges, each design duo found some things that could be improved. The most dramatic change occurs in Team Habitat's first room; the guest bedroom. The room is completely stripped back, repainted and rearranged to better represent the zebra theme in a more toned down, modern way. Brad and Abiah also re-position the furniture in their lounge and make some small changes in their master bedroom.
For Team VISI, there was a change of curtains, but it was the spare room that they mainly wanted to review. They chose to paint over the blue feature wall and changed a few decor pieces according to the judges feedback.
Team House and Leisure couldn't look past the mirror in the master bathroom. It was installed incorrectly and a simple upside-down switch corrects the mirror and fixes the snag in that space.
With the final touch-ups done, the design duos can reflect upon their journey in the competition. Looking back, they see all the lessons they've learnt, unforgettable experiences and can celebrate what they have achieved in the competition.
As great as it is to reminisce, there's still R100,000 on the line for the design duo who the judges feel created the best design overall, throughout the house. With the judges having seen every room, how do they assess the design as a whole?
Well, the only test remaining is the liveability of the home. And to gauge that, the judges pack their overnight bags to become residents for a night.
The final guest judge for the competition is Kim Hutton of Kim H Interior Design. No stranger to Win a Home, Kim was a judge in Season 1 and the interior designer of the Season 1 Grand Prize home so he's the perfect person to offer insights at this critical stage.
With three judges and three houses, assigning homes for the night is easy: Katlego Kondlo from Plascon will be staying in Team VISI's house, Donald Nxumalo will be staying in Team House and Leisure's house and Kim Hutton will stay in Team Habitat's house.
During their course of the judges stay, each design duo does a presentation, explaining the theme and aesthetic they've chosen for the house as well as what makes their design special and unique. Taking their experience and the presentations into account, the judges have an extremely difficult decision to make and all will be revealed in the live broadcast of the grand live finale on Win a Home, 10 November at 4pm on SABC3.
