Simphiwe Ngema & PSon3 winners • 6 August 2018

Monday the August 6th was a big day in the Afternoon Express studio as we were not only joined by the beautiful and talented actress Simphiwe Ngema, but also all 6 of the Presenter Search winners who are the new SABC 3 presenters, including our very own brand new host Palesa Thembe.

Our first guest in the studio was
film and television actress Simphiwe Ngema. She is popularly known by South African viewers for her role on SABC 2 soap opera Muvhango. Simphiwe grew up a pastor’s kid, but she has said that she didn’t have the typical PK life, as her father allowed his kids to choose their own paths in life and wouldn’t enforce religion on them. She started acting in 2008, when starred alongside Mary Twala, Sindi Dlathu, and Lelethi Khumalo in the stage production ‘The Game’. Following that she went on to star in a number of stage productions such as ‘Sheila’s Day’ and ‘Qaphela’. In 2011 got the role of Thuli Nkosi on Muvhango, a role she kept until departing from the show in 2015. When she acted in the play ‘The Game,’ she had met Duma Ndlovu, who was the writer of it, and also the creator of Muvhango, she has credited him for being a mentor of sorts to her in the industry. In 2015 she landed her first feature film role, which was in the movie Droplets. Since then she has gone on to receive a number of roles in other productions such as Broken Vows, Greed and Desire, Bold Girls, and The Queen.
